Agency welcomes a communications unicorn to lead client success
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (February 2, 2024) — SPARK Strategic Ideas (SPARK), a leading full-service strategic branding agency, proudly announces the addition of communications veteran Crystal Dempsey to its dynamic team as an account supervisor.
Dempsey brings with her over 15 years of public relations and marketing experience; more than 20 years as a journalist; and expertise in conceptualizing and executing creative campaigns, content creation, community engagement and critical thinking.
In her role at SPARK as account supervisor, Dempsey will play a pivotal role within the agency’s account service department, taking charge of strategy development and fostering strong client relationships. She will be instrumental in creating and executing strategic plans, ensuring that clients’ needs are met with excellence.
“I had worked with SPARK for 10 years as a contractor on different projects and always thought about joining the team,” Dempsey said. “This opportunity intrigued and challenged me. Besides working with an extremely talented group of women, I got to pick my own ‘fun’ title: Communications Unicorn.”
Dempsey’s versatility, depth of experience and extensive background uniquely positions her to drive impactful and innovative strategies for SPARK’s clients.
“We are beyond excited to have Crystal finally join us as a full-time team member,” said Pollyanna Falk, vice president of account service & public relations at SPARK. “She has been so fun to work with for the past several years—a rare combination of creative and strategic brain power. I’m confident that her multi-pronged communications skillset will prove instrumental in our clients’ growth and success.”
Prior to joining SPARK, Dempsey crafted compelling narratives for businesses and nonprofits, navigating clients through the ever-changing social media landscape, and advising on brand positioning. Dempsey’s portfolio includes notable work for Blumenthal Performing Arts, Camp Blue Skies, Custard Stand Chili, Amélie’s French Bakery, and her agency she launched in 2009, From the Hip Communications.
Before her career in communications, Dempsey spent over two decades as a journalist, mostly at The Charlotte Observer. Her various roles included editor of Eye magazine, the Style section editor and columnist, as well as page designer and copy editor.
